"Hainan Island is a large, beautiful place, and after the completion of the coastal scenic highway, it will be even easier to gain fast access to the relaxed vacation vibes of the province," said Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports of Hainan Province Director Wang Zhongyun at the press conference announcing the opening of the entire Hainan Coastal Scenic Highway on Dec. 18, 2023.

The 988 km long newly completed highway connects 12 of Hainan's coastal cities and counties, and was designed to provide access to 31 A-level attractions including four 4A level attractions: Nanshan Temple Park, Daxiao Dongtian Park, Wuzhizhou Island, and Boundary Island, as well as eleven 3A level attractions: Tianya Haijiao, West Island, Holiday Beach, Nanwan Monkey Island, Luhuitou Park, Hainan R&F Ocean Paradise and more.

Travelers to Hainan can take advantage of the convenience of the scenic highway to plan their vacation routes and visits to different scenic areas according to their own preferences, experiencing the beauty of Hainan's mountains, seas, and cultures on their own terms.

In Haikou, take a stroll along the historic Qilou street to discover the ancient memories of Southeast Asia, in Wanning visit Shimei Bay and Riyue Bay when the surf is up, visit the Tanka village on the sea in Lingshui, check out the monkey business on at the Nanwan Monkey Island macaque reserve and get a feel for how harmony between humanity and nature is achieved, take a plunge into the water or relax on the beach at Sanya's Wuzhizhou Island, marvel at the perfect mirror of the sky on the salt flats at Yinggehai, Ledong, and see the sun set on another perfect day at the Yulinzhou Lighthouse in Dongfang.

According to Director Wang, the next step is to continue creating even more attractions along the route in order to optimize and enhance traveler experiences and satisfaction levels, ensuring that the new coastal scenic highway will become a popular way to visit Hainan in 2024. Hainan will focus on improving the vacation experiences offered along the Wenchang section of the highway, as well as the beautiful countryside scenic spots in Haikou, Danzhou, Lingao, Chengmai, Wenchang, Qionghai, and Wanning.
