Here's How Graduates Can Stay in Hainan to Work or Do Business

Q: Are there any convenient policies in the Hainan FTP allowing international students and college graduates to come and innovate and start businesses here?

A: The Hainan FTP is an open place welcoming international students and college graduates to come to innovate and start businesses, share opportunities, and create a future together. We provide the following facilitation policies and regulations:

1.Outstanding international graduates who have obtained a bachelor’s degree or above from key Chinese universities and colleges and are engaged in innovation and entrepreneurship in China after graduation may use their college diploma and innovation and entrepreneurship certification materials to apply for a private affairs (entrepreneurship) residence permit valid for 2-5 years. Those employed in Hainan may apply for a work residence permit in accordance with regulations.

2.International graduates with a master’s degree or above from Chinese higher education institutions and a recommendation from their university may apply for a private affairs residence permit valid for two years in order to innovate and start a business in Hainan. Those employed in Hainan during that period may apply for a work residence permit at that time.

3.International graduates graduating from internationally renowned universities that come to China to innovate and start a business within 2 years of graduation may use their proof of academic qualifications (degree) to apply for a private affairs (entrepreneurship) residence permit valid for less than two years. Those employed in Hainan during that period may apply for a work residence permit at that time.

4.International students studying in overseas higher education institutions who intern in well-known Chinese enterprises and institutions, Hainan star-rated hotels, hospitals, international schools, or other employers may use an invitation letter from the employer and a certificate of enrollment in an overseas university to apply for a port visa to enter China or apply for a private affairs visa. International students enrolled in overseas universities coming to China for an internship according to intergovernmental agreements may apply for a work residence permit in accordance with regulations.
