The Boao Near-Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone, China's first Urban Renewal Model Near-Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone, recently began official operations.

The following are some of the Zone's major features.

Taking into full account the tropical marine climate's high temperature and humidity, buildings' energy conservation and carbon reduction of are achieved—without changing the architectural style or undergoing major demolition and reconstruction—through various technological means.

Adopting the concept of close-to-nature restoration to form a highly adaptable vegetation community with high carbon sink capacity, and improve the overall carbon fixation and oxygen release capacity and carbon sink benefits.

A near-zero carbon operation and management smart center (with full-factor integration, full-area coverage, full-time data monitoring, rapid response, and dynamic regulation) has been created and deployed.
