On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ireland and China, Ireland has been nominated as the Country of Honour at the 4th China International Consumer Products Expo, also known as the Hainan Expo.

Taking this opportunity to highlight the distinctive attractions of the Emerald Isle, Team Ireland in China aims to fully utilize this valuable opportunity to comprehensively showcase Ireland across several sectors (including beverages, food, fashion, agri-tech, life sciences, high-end consumer products, high-tech innovation, education, investment, tourism, and unique cultural experiences).

Hainan International Media Center, Hainan International Communication Network（www.hicn.cn), along with Tropical Hainan (www.tropicalhainan.com), have the honor to interview with Ann Derwin, the Ambassador of Ireland to the People's Republic of China.Ann started by thanking the Ministry of Commerce People's Republic of China, the Hainan Provincial government, and the Expo organizers for affording Ireland the great privilege of being this year's country of honor. Ann also shared that, in addition to lots of new companies attending, many companies whichwere here last year came back this year.

“As a small, very globalized economy, Ireland trades with countries around the world and we see the benefits of Hainan as we're big supporter of the current rules by the based international trading system and Free Trade Ports like Hainan. This presents a great opportunity for countries to come in and invest in China,” said Ambassador Derwin.

Ambassador Ann Derwin, along with the Economic and Trade Counsellors from the Embassy, and representatives from various Irish state agencies, will all be present at the Ireland Country of Honour Pavilion and the side events. They shall extend their support to Irish brands participating in the event and engage with members of the public.
