
At present, Hainan is stepping up efforts to fully restore the overall road network, power grid, and communications networks.
According to the information from the Hainan Provincial Communications Bureau, Typhoon 'Yagi' led to serious damage to communications base stations across the province, with 14,076 out of the 28,107 identified as damaged still out of service. 59.8% of Wenchang’s base stations and 46.5% of Haikou’s are out of service.
The communications industry has responded quickly with the deployment of huge numbers of personnel and equipment carrying out repairs. As of 18:00 on 8 September, the province had already repaired and restored 14,031 of the 28,107 damaged communications base stations. It is expected that the province's communication service will be restored to basic normalcy by 10 September.
