During the 2025 Spring Festival travel rush (known as “Chunyun”), Hainan Airlines is expected to operate a total of 33,400 flights (up 6.9% over the previous year) and transport 5.26 million passengers. The number of domestic flight passengers was about 4.91 million (up 3.1% year on year) and the number of international passengers will be about 350,000 (up more than 50% year on year.

In order to fully meet travel demands, during this year’s Chunyun, Hainan Airlines has adopted various measures such as opening new routes, optimizing route networks, and increasing transport capacity.
Domestically, HNA is focusing on strengthening the capacity of wide -body aircraft in and out of popular areas such as Hainan and Harbin. They will also increase the number of wide-body aircraft staying overnight in Sanya to as many as 6 (up 2 from 2024 Chunyun). HNA also plans to arrange 30 wide-body flights daily (up 7% year on year).
To better meet the travel needs of passengers, Hainan Airlines has also increased frequency of many popular international and regional routes. Currently, Beijing ⇌ Bangkok, Haikou ⇌ Bangkok, Haikou ⇌ Singapore, Haikou ⇌ Hong Kong and other routes all operate twice daily; while routes like Beijing ⇌ Brussels, Beijing ⇌ Osaka, and Beijing ⇌ Phuket operate once daily. At the same time, in response to the peak travel season for winter sports, Hainan Airlines launched a new route from Xi’an to Sapporo in December 2024 to facilitate passengers going to Japan’s Hokkaido region.
Furthermore, HNA has introduced exclusive preferential policies for students, the elderly and families with young children. On some of its own operated flights (including Beijing ⇌ Sanya, Beijing ⇌ Shenzhen, Beijing ⇌ Haikou, and Guangzhou ⇌ Haikou), students who have passed identity verification, people over 60, and people traveling with the elderly or children can enjoy discounted tickets. Passengers can lock their round-trip passenger tickets in advance through special round- trip products. It’s estimated that during this year’s Chunyun, these targeted products will carry 400,000 passengers.
