Inira's Spring Festival Journey into Li Culture

On December 4, 2024, UNESCO officially inscribed the "Spring Festival, social practices of the Chinese people in celebration of traditional new year" on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. China's Spring Festival has long since transcended the global Chinese community and become a festival shared by people from all over the world, regardless of skin color or language; and, now that it has been recognized at this level, more people will have the opportunity to deeply experience its rich cultural connotations.

As the first year that Spring Festival has been recognized as part of humanity's intangible cultural heritage, the buzz words for 2025 are "intangible cultural heritage.” Join HIMC Overseas Communication Officer Inira as she travels to Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County in the south-central part of Hainan Province to start a super special intangible cultural heritage Spring Festival experience in the Betel Nut Valley. She'll put on gorgeous Li brocade, dance the bowl-beating dance with the Li people to pray for a good harvest, experience exquisite rattan weaving, play coconut and bamboo instruments, feel the wisdom of harmonious coexistence between man and nature, watch live performances, witness the brave and fearless ethnic spirit, participate in traditional wedding customs and touch the romantic heritage of these ancient peoples. Then, when night falls, she and tourists from all over the world lit up bowl lanterns and made wishes that everyone has a happy New Year. This Spring Festival, Inira and the Li and Miao people shared the charm of intangible cultural heritage and will pass their experience on to the world.
