On the afternoon of March 27, a press junket with members from 11 countries (including Brazil, Indonesia, Iran and Tonga) stopped at the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone “Hope City” for a look at how this world-leading medical innovation and health care demonstration site is unlocking the "advanced application" of bleeding-edge pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, and to personally experience how the Hainan Free Trade Port’s special policies are fostering pioneering medical technology. This event was jointly organized by the China International Press Communication Center and the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province.

Already on the fourth stop of their visit to Hainan, the junket’s visit to “Hope City” began with the Lecheng Medical Equipment Exhibition. Featuring a dazzling array of the world's bleeding-edge medical equipment, the staff gave detailed introductions on how the various types of medical equipment on display are making use of the FTP’s policy advantages which have turned Lecheng into an incubator for global medical innovation. Whether it is innovative medical devices or futuristic pharmaceuticals, each exhibit shows the infinite possibilities provided by medical technology.
Leaving the exhibition hall with a positive impression of the innovative practices and equipment that "Hope City" had to offer, the junket continued onwards to the Yiling Life Care Center Hotel for a look at so-called "oriental health care concepts" from traditional Chinese medicine health to modern health management, and relaxation programs to technology-enabled health monitoring. Integrating traditional wisdom and modern medical technology, Yiling’s unique health care model was praised by many of the visitors.

Shahrokh Saei, a reporter from Tehran Times, said: "you don't often see things like this nowadays." Isu Tuvshin, a reporter from Mongolian News Online recalled her experience studying at medical school in her country and said frankly: "Even my university didn't have this kind of integrated medical application. Although my country has many traditional medical clinics, none like this. This place gives me a sense of peace and calm.” Girvan Lea, a reporter from Tonga Broadcasting Commission, also spoke highly of this place in comparison to what is available in Tonga.
The foreign press junket to “Hope City” not only provided a window for media from various countries to gain an in-depth understanding of China's medical innovation and the integrated development of health care, but also allowed for an international perspective in spreading the word of China's innovative achievements and practical experience in the medical field to all parts of the world.
