On April 14, during the 5th China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE), a press delegation comprising reporters and editors from national-level international communication media organizations such as People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, and China Media Group, and seven provincial-level organizations in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Hainan visited the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center to learn about fresh developments in the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) and experience the vitality of China's opening up.

"This (the CICPE) is not just a platform for displaying consumer goods, but also for enterprises and exhibitors seeking cooperation," said Huang Cui, deputy director of the Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development. This year's Expo in the Coconut City, Haikou, has seen the participation of 71 countries and regions in the pursuit of openness, with more than 1,700 consumer companies showcasing over 4,100 brands. The press delegation visited the national pavilions of various countries, including the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Singapore, and Brazil, as well as the artificial intelligence area, low-altitude economy exhibition area, and global characteristic consumption exhibition area in search of stories that best convey the CICPE's innovative achievements to the world.

The CICPE, a large-scale annual exposition dedicated to consumption, is a crucial platform for promoting the import of consumer goods and expanding high-quality supply. "This is my fourth time attending the CICPE. Unlike previous years, this year's expo has shifted the focus to AI across the board." Deng Huimin, staffing the booth of HONOR, a global-leading AI device ecosystem company, said that AI is fast permeating every aspect of daily life and has become a hot topic among consumers in recent times. In this respect, the CICPE is undoubtedly a vital stage for showcasing AI achievements.

After the delegation's visit, GDToday reporter Jiang Chang said, "The CICPE provides a valuable opportunity for companies and consumers from all over the world to show off and experience products and discuss cooperation. It has allowed me to see more possibilities for China to build new consumer power."

"Previously, I would be reporting at the China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) at this time of year. The Canton Fair is a barometer of China's foreign trade. In the case of the CICPE, its role is to showcase the upgrading of China's consumer market and the latest products from companies around the globe. After interviewing representatives of these companies, I can see that they have great confidence in increasing their market share here," said Li Tianyue, an English reporter at Guangdong Radio and Television Station.

The press delegation also attended the 'Invest in China·2025 Global Industrial Investment Promotion Conference for the Hainan FTP', where they reported on the Hainan FTP's drive to attract global investment.
