April 24^th was China’s 10^th Space Day. In honor of the occasion, themed events were held in Wenchang, Sanya, and Haikou, showcasing Hainan’s vibrant aerospace industry breakthroughs and the open atmosphere of the Free Trade Port (FTP).

At an aerospace conference held in Wenchang, the Hainan Aerospace Technical Innovation Center signed a cooperation agreement with the Hainan Aerospace City Industrial Investment Holding Company and Airsat Technology (Hainan), marking the official launch of exclusive satellite constellation construction in Hainan.

The first phase of the Hainan FTP Satellite Constellation project centers on the Haishao satellite network. The Haishao-1 remote-sensing commercial satellite was launched into orbit in December 2024, with Haishao-2 scheduled for launch this July and Haishao-3 to go up in June, 2026. The Hainan FTP Satellite Constellation project, which is scheduled for completion within three years, is focused on the high-resolution, low-inclination, fully-polarized radar satellite field.

In Wenchang and Sanya, immersive youth science activities were also held to ignite enthusiasm for exploration. Several hundred students and teachers participated in interesting weather and space related activities, experimented with making water rockets, and assembled model rockets. Meanwhile in Sanya, over 200 students and teachers checked out a satellite data receiving system, visited a remote sensing technology exhibition, listened to aerospace science lectures, and got a close-up look at thrilling high-tech aerospace gadgets.

From April 23-26, an immersive light show called ‘Heavenly Dome’ is being staged at Haikou’s Evergreen Park. Images made of light depicting scenes including the Long March-5 rocket’s launch trajectory and the Chinese Space Station flow across the buildings of Binhai Ave., integrating real-time data from Chang’e-6 with Hainan rainforest elements to create a visual spectacle combining technology with art.
